A self-teaching math worktext for grades 1-3. It includes both the instruction (written directly to the student) and a variety of exercises and word problems in the same book.
The book starts with year-1 topics such as counting coins with cent-amounts and easy problems about change. There is a lesson that deals with how to shop without one or five cent coins. Since store prices can end in uneven cent amounts, and the total cost is rounded to the nearest ten cents, some examples are given to practice rounding prices and shopping. From there, the lessons advance toward year-2 topics and finally to year-3 topics, such as practising with dollar amounts, and working out total amounts owed and change.
